So many of my Class of 2022 clients are people I've known since they were babies or in preschool. It's an amazing privilege to get to take portraits for some of my favorite people! Kayla is one of them: I've known her since she was just in preschool and Brian and I had her in our Kindergarten Sunday School class. Her parents are also some of my favorite people: Sheree is one of my closest friends and I just love them all to pieces!
It's crazy to think that this is the last Evans kid I'll take senior pictures for and it's so bittersweet. Knowing this was the last time I'd be doing this, I wanted to make it extra special. Sheree and I turned it into an excellent excuse for a girls' getaway and she arranged for us to stay at a friend's lakeside cabin in North Carolina! Kayla wanted a field of flowers with the possibility of a mountain and/or lake background. This spot had it all! On our way up to North Carolina, we stopped at Jaemor Farms where they happened to be having their opening weekend of Pick Your Own wild flowers. It was so sunny and colorful and happy: just like Kayla! I don't think there could have been a more perfect place for her. She is one of the sweetest, most positive girls I've ever known!
Once we got to the cabin, Kayla changed outfits and we headed over to this adorable farm just down the road. Sheree had been there before when there were lots of flowers but we happened to be there just a week or two early for the majority of blooms but the light and mountains and barn were all we needed to get beautiful pictures. We even took some pictures in the greenhouse full of beautiful tomato plants! The colors and Kayla's outfits were incredible!
My favorite pictures lately have been the ones when I ask kids to look at their moms like the ones above! I've been able to capture the sweetest expressions and the connection is tangible. Seeing each student's reaction is so precious! These two have one of the deepest bonds I've ever seen and their love for each other is such a beautiful example of mutual admiration and respect and they've both learned from each other and their relationship sets the tone for all their other relationships.
When we were finished at the farm, Kayla changed into this gorgeous floral dress from Altar'd State and we stopped at this incredible field with a stream and mountains in the background! The sun was setting fast but we were able to get some awesome pictures before the light was gone.
That night, after dinner, we went out on the dock and just took in all the stars and planned to finish up in the morning with one last outfit in the lake. Before we headed home, we went out on the boat around the lake and I was just so overwhelmed by how perfect the entire weekend had been! I love this girl so much and I'm so excited for her and I'm looking forward to watching how God grows her and works through her.
