Sam was one of my first 2022 seniors this year and it was an awesome session! He really wanted to include his grandfather's vintage Chevy truck in his pictures and he asked for a nature and possibly rustic location. That was our first little challenge because I needed to find a location that had
1. plenty of light
2. trees not being the entire background because I wanted the truck to stand out & not blend in
3. a place where we could actually drive the truck onto safely
4. a public place or a place where we could get permission to use it
5. a location with enough variety for poses
6. hopefully a place with a fence/barn/old building for a rustic look
This fantastic farm in Ball Ground, GA turned out to be the ideal location and I was able to contact the owner and get permission from him to use his property and to arrange with him a time when he could unlock the gate for us.
The day of his session presented us with another challenge: the awful weather forecast! It was calling for heavy thunderstorms that evening and the radar did not look promising. Around 11:00 that morning the forecast looked like we might catch a break a little earlier than our scheduled time and Sam and his parents agreed to get everything ready a couple hours early and the property owner was fine with us coming a little sooner. When I arrived at the location the sky was covered in really dark clouds but were clearing just as Sam arrived with his parents and the truck! All those storms just passed north of where we were and it never rained on us and it turned out to be absolutely gorgeous! I'm so glad we didn't reschedule prematurely!
Sam brought along his adorable dog, Howard, for a few pictures also and he was so good even though he was a little unsure about being in the bed of the truck!
Using Sam's grandpa's truck was really special because his grandfather had passed away last year and this was a wonderful way to honor his memory and all the hard work it took to restore the Chevy so beautifully.
Sam is on the swim team at Etowah High School and he wanted to get at least a few pictures of his sport into his pictures so we scheduled a quick session early Saturday morning at the Cherokee Aquatic Center. It was perfect timing to get the pool all to ourselves and we didn't have to worry about working around practices or lessons. We did a few pictures of him with his letterman jacket there also.
I just love how everything turned out!
