Eleven years ago I sat at the kitchen table at my friend Melissa's house. Our kids were all playing together in the house while we sipped on our coffee. We were talking about how my photography skills had improved so much in the last year or two and how much I loved it. I told her how I was thinking of turning my hobby into a business and she said I should go for it, that she thought I was ready for it and she thought I'd be great at this. She's the kind of friend who cheers you on and hypes you up because she genuinely believes in you and sees all your potential!
The next year I decided to take the leap and I opened up for business!
I wasn't ready...technically.
But sometimes it's okay to tackle a big dream before you know all the ins & outs and while you're enthusiastic! I doubt there are many small business owners that can foresee the struggles and obstacles coming down the road to meet them. I wasn't a great photographer and I certainly didn't know everything involved in running a successful business. I'm still improving in both of those areas and likely will never consider myself a master at either one but I'm so very thankful Melissa encouraged me to start this thing because it's made a big difference in my life and I hope in the lives of my clients as well.
And here I am celebrating 10 years in business and Melissa asked me to take her oldest baby's senior portraits! I am so honored to have been part of Caroline's senior year in this way and I can not get over what an amazing young woman she's become! She is kind and sweet and brilliant. She is determined and hard-working. She's funny and creative and beautiful. She loves God, her family and her friends and I know they are all incredibly proud of her!
We started her session at Woodstock High School in her letterman jacket and jeans and then we headed over to a quiet park in Cobb County. This park has beautiful light and several different backgrounds so we had lots of variety to her images. She chose the perfect outfits for a natural location: summery dresses, flare jeans, floral top and skirt. We had so much fun shooting! And you can see she has the most amazing smile!

Melissa Barsh - This was absolutely the BEST way to start off Caroline’s senior year! Her session was so much fun, and it reminded me to soak up every minute of this last year of high school! You made the experience, Rebekah! You have such a gift, and your business is a beautiful expression of your heart for people, specifically teens ready to embark on their own journey. Thanks for capturing my girl’s uniqueness, and I love how her personality shines through in her portraits! I’m so glad we had coffee that day several years ago! Congrats on 10 years! Your work is breathtaking and brings so many smiles and happy tears.
