The very best time to have your senior portraits taken is the summer before your senior year or in the fall once school starts. More than likely you'll want to have your pictures taken early in senior year so you can use them for a senior ad in the yearbook or in school programs like for theater or cheer. But there are other considerations to take into account when scheduling your session: like your preference for wardrobe and weather.
Hadley was a cheerleader at Woodstock High School and she scheduled her session for the first week in November because she definitely wanted fall leaves in her pictures. The timing was also best because it was after football season when she had more time. The first time we met we started her session at a gorgeous little bookstore in Marietta and took some pictures around the city but she also wanted a nature location to make sure we incorporated some autumn color into her images. Using different locations gave her TONS of variety!
We finished her first session at a park that has pretty gardens and beautiful open fields. It was the perfect place to capture some autumn color!
Hadley brought this pretty floral dress which was a great option for some sorority headshots when she decides to rush. My favorite dress is her long white one below! Absolutely gorgeous! Everything was so perfect: her hair, the outfits, locations and gorgeous smile to top it all off!
Senior Sessions in Multiple Seasons
If you're having a hard time deciding which season would be best for you then a great option is to not compromise and do multiple seasons! After all, senior year of high school only happens once so you might as well capture every minute of it!
I know a lot of people who want to have their senior portraits in time to use in the yearbook in the fall but they hadn't decided yet where they were going to college so having their portraits taken again in the spring once they decided was such a great way to finish the year. Hadley knew long before the spring where she wanted to go to college but it was a great idea to break her session into two parts so that she could have so many options for outfits. Trying to fit this many into one day would have been exhausting and also the temperature in the fall would have been too cool for the dresses she wanted to wear. I'm absolutely in LOVE with the Kentucky blue boots she brought!
Hadley, it was such an honor to take your senior portraits! You are so sweet, adventurous, genuine and enthusiastic and I know God has great things are in store for you!
