Someone asked me last week, "How far will you go for a senior session?" and my immediate answer was, "Well, I go down to Atlanta all the time and there are a few locations about an hour north like Ellijay and Cumming I use a lot also." and then I remembered this session with Kate when we went all the way up to Chattanooga!
This is the second farthest I've gone (the furthest was South Carolina) and it was well worth it! I actually had the idea to go to Chattanooga when Kate showed me one of her outfits was a cute white dress with orange butterflies and her orange Converse hi-tops. I immediately thought about how perfect that outfit would be on the blue pedestrian bridge! She and her mom loved that idea because it turns out that Chattanooga is a special place for them because Kate's grandparents have taken her and her brother there a lot over the years. I am so happy we could do this in a place that has special meaning to her!
LBD - The Little Black Dress and Senior Pictures!
One of the traditions at the schools in our area is that the seniors wear black on the Last First Day of school. It just also happens to be one of Sequoyah's school colors so it always looks great with their letterman jackets!
A little black dress is such a great staple piece to have in your closet and a lot of girls wear it for their senior portraits. I love that you can dress it up or down, wear it with combat boots like Caylin did or with tennis shoes, heels or with sandals like Kate did here. That trombone looks pretty amazing with it also!
Portraits Throughout Senior Year
One of my favorite things to do every year is to plan a few creative sessions just for myself! The best part about it is that I started asking students who have already had their senior session with me to do these creative sessions later in the year as kind of a bonus! I love getting to see my kids again and to do something that doesn't have such high expectations. Doing a session like this just for fun quite often ends up being one of the highlights of senior year.
There are just so many things pulling for your attention the year you graduate: college applications, yearbook deadlines, AP exams, roommate decisions, etc, etc!!! It can all start to build up and having time to just play and doing something for fun with no grade or standard to meet can be so refreshing.
I did this session with these girls in the winter when there isn't so much going on. I'd had this idea to do pictures with a "band" and because so many of my clients this year are in marching band or orchestra I had a lot of people I could ask. I had already taken senior portraits for Kate, Maya and Gigi and Jordyn's session was scheduled in the spring. I absolutely LOVED hanging out with these girls and the pictures are some of my favorites!
