When it comes to your senior portraits you should definitely consider incorporating a hobby or sport or bringing along a pet. In this case, Sarah wanted to be sure to include the horses and the farm where she volunteers her time. She helps with riding camps and absolutely adores the horses she gets to work with and obviously they love her also! Not all farms are great backdrops for portraits but this one here in Woodstock was perfect and literally right down the street from my house! I just love the light here whenever I'm driving by at sunset; it's such a beautiful place and had even more to offer than I realized. Not only are there beautiful fields but there's a great trail to walk where we took some of Sarah's portraits by herself without the horses.
Wearing Clothing Items That Have Special Meaning
Choosing a location that is special to clients is something I consider quite a lot but having you bring along an item of clothing or an outfit that has special meaning is something I'm just starting to realize can be an important part of your session! I've had seniors wear something that used to belong to a grandparent or parent and links them to someone who holds a special place in their heart. But there is also something really special about wearing an item that reminds you of a special event or a trip. Sarah brought this leather jacket she bought while on a trip to Italy and now her senior pictures will also remind her of that amazing experience!
We finished up the night with horses of course and beautiful golden light! Sarah has the most gorgeous smile and I loved watching her interact with the horses and am so glad we could do her session in a place that means so much to her!
