This is going to be an especially picture heavy post and I won't apologize for it! I just have SO many favorites from Mia's session that it's almost impossible to narrow it down any further than I already have.
Mia requested West Milford Farm for her senior portraits because she especially loves the greenhouse there. The day of her session, the weather forecast was absolutely awful! But Mia had hair and makeup appointments already scheduled and we wanted to do our best to keep those appointments. Having to reschedule everything would have been really difficult! So we kept our fingers crossed that the thunderstorms would work their way through early enough for us to still have plenty of time for her session. As you can see, we ended up with a gorgeous evening and I'm SO thankful Mia and her mom, Teri, were flexible and adventurous to go through with it! We started our evening in the greenhouse just to make sure any leftover rain showers had time to move on and the light there is always so pretty early in the evening.
Making Sure You Get Lots of Variety in Your Senior Portraits
Mia did an incredible job of bring both casual and dressy outfits! She brought everything from her jeans and some shorts to maxi dresses and her Homecoming dress. Not only did we have tons of variety in her clothing but we also have tons of options for locations or different backgrounds at West Milford. That's one of the many benefits of this location! First of all, you have to pay to reserve a time and the owners limit the number of photographers on the property so that you aren't fighting over space. Secondly, there are so many different little buildings and fields to choose from that each time I go I feel like I'm using the space in a new and unique way!
Because Mia had so many outfits to choose from, we decided to work with her top favorite outfits first and saved a couple for the end in case we were able to get the others done in time. We had just 15 minutes left before sunset to sneak in one extra outfit and I'm so glad we did because this outfit with her shorts and boots is so cute! If you have a lot of choices, it really helps to prioritize the looks you want in your images and to be willing to let a few go if necessary. So when we're able to get all of them done it's like the cherry on top!
