A little back story:
In 2012 I got a phone call from Susan (Kyla's mom). Her oldest daughter, Kelsey, was looking for a facilitator for her senior project. Students used to be required to complete a year-long project that included a research paper, blogging, learning from a professional in the career they were interested in pursuing after college, and they had to present a final product at the end of the year to a panel of judges for a major end of year grade. It was always very stressful for students and I'm not sure if they're even requiring this anymore. At any rate, Susan asked if I would be willing to be Kelsey's professional in the field of photography. She would learn about the business and present a portfolio at the end of the year. I was so honored and I was also really nervous! I had only been in business for a year!!! What could I possibly teach her?! But I agreed and that began a long relationship with the Montgomery family that I'm very thankful for!
I have taken senior portraits for all four of the Montgomery kids and Kyla is the last one! Talk about bittersweet. I love this family and I love Kyla. She's beautiful, sweet and compassionate. She loves her family, her friends and God with her whole heart. She's amazing and I'm so excited for her future!
When I asked Kyla what kind of location she wanted for her senior pictures, she told me she wanted a unique location. Which, honestly, is always my favorite answer! I love all locations: nature, rustic, city or garden. But finding a unique location that doesn't fit any of those descriptions is always fun for me. It gives me an opportunity to explore and it gives my clients a different look for their senior pictures than what they usually see from their friends.
Lindale Mill is one of those perfect spots! It's kind of far away so it's not a typical location for Cherokee County or Fulton County students. It's also not open to the public so it's not like a thousand people are always there taking pictures. I love all the little hidden corners and the beautiful light there! Kyla's outfits were ideal for this spot and we had such a great time together.
