Well, ladies, it's coming up! Galentine's Day is on Sunday!
Do you have plans to hang out and love on your best girls? That might be really hard to do this year with a raging pandemic. In fact, last year my friend Lauren tried to schedule a brunch with girl friends but then her daughters weren't feeling well and we had to reschedule. By the end of February it was obviously not going to happen if we all wanted to stay healthy and keep our families safe also!
Last year, my daughter and a couple of her best friends managed to get in their Galentine's Day celebration before COVID-19 took over. They got all dressed up and we brought balloons and roses and took a bunch of pictures before we went to dinner. My husband and I made it into a mini-date and sat a table away from the girls and they had a booth all to themselves without us old folks. It was a really sweet night!
So is it possible to celebrate safely this year? I think so and I have a few suggestions!
- Make it Small - Instead of a big group, choose a handful of friends. A small group of friends means you can have those intimate conversations and give them your undivided attention! AND...
- Gather Outdoors - If it's going to be chilly, rent an outdoor heater. Provide cozy blankets and warm drinks! Choose an outside activity like ice skating or a warm fire pit with S'mores.
- Wear Masks - You could buy some cute masks with hearts in the pattern or in pinks and reds. Masks aren't the accessory we all love but we can still make them cute!
- Do a Gift Exchange Instead - In lieu of getting together, assign everyone a Secret Cupid and drop off your gifts on your friend's doorstep!
- Have a Virtual Party - FaceTime while watching your favorite Chick Flick via a Netflix Party.
I know this past year has felt like COVID has canceled so many of our favorite things but life doesn't have to be put on hold. It just means we need to stretch our creative muscles and come up with ways to celebrate safely!
While we were shooting in Downtown Alpharetta, this sweet lady named Jacey came out from Crave Pie and gifted us with 4 delicious mini-pies from her shop! It was such a thoughtful, generous thing to do and we even took a few pictures with her! The pies are as adorable as the shop itself.
