I will forever be grateful for the photographer friends I have who encourage and support me constantly! I was completely surprised and flattered that my friend Melissa asked me to take Emily's senior portraits because Melissa is an amazing photographer and also shoots lots of senior pictures! What an enormous compliment that they chose me to do these for them! It's always a little nerve racking when working for another photographer because I'm thinking, "Oh no, are they wondering why I'm doing things the way I do them? Would they do this differently?" Every photographer has their own unique eye for things and their own personality, their own editing style, their own way of interacting with clients. That's the beauty of this medium, though; there's a photographer out there for everyone. Finding someone you connect with and whose style and work you love is amazing! I'm not the right photographer for everyone but, for the people who hire me to take their senior portraits, I know that we're a good fit and that they chose me for a reason. Melissa showed Emily the work of 3 different photographers and let her choose from that list and she chose me! I'm seriously so thankful she did.
We had the most amazing time! Emily wanted a session with murals and loved my suggestion of doing some in the subway. I sent her some outfit inspiration based on her favorite stores and our location and she picked the perfect stuff to wear! I love that green outfit on her with her gorgeous red hair and freckles! We took some pictures in the MARTA parking deck and then some on the train on our way into Atlanta. We did some more pictures around town and then were going to head back north to finish up for the night. Except...when our train pulled up I was giving some instructions about what we were going to do next and we didn't get on the train before it pulled away! smh That meant we had to wait another 20 minutes and had to go out of our way to get back home. We got back to our first stop with just 10 minutes left before sunset and decided to try and get a few more pictures and I'm so surprised they turned out as well as they did with hardly any light!
We decided to go ahead and schedule another quick session later in the week to get some shots of her last outfit and also so Emily could get some pictures of her hair styled differently since she has naturally curly hair. If I had time to do 2 sessions with every client I certainly would! I just loved getting to see them both again and to get even more variety in her images.
