It's Cadey's turn on the blog today! I've been waiting with anticipation for this one to post because she is one of my favorite people! I got to take her sister's senior pictures in 2020 just before the world shut down for COVID-19 and, even though so many things have returned to normal, Cadey's senior year definitely hasn't been without its challenges and some disappointments. But she has handled each one with dignity, grace, and patience and I appreciate her perspective and adaptability! I seriously admire her. She's a joy to be around and she infuses positive energy and love into every situation.
Her senior portrait session is without a doubt one of my favorites because this girl knows her style! Her outfits were all incredible and I could write an entire "What to Wear for Your Senior Pictures" post just based on her session. You'll agree with me when you see even her first 2 outfits! The black fringed denim jacket, leggings, and Golden Goose sneakers with her black Ford Mustang is how we started the night and it just got better from there!
I love her off the shoulder dress with the white house as her backdrop! I'm a fan of both outfits that match a location and when they contrast and this is definitely the former. Her flare jeans and wrap top is probably my favorite outfit and her hair is so amazing even on such a hot day!
I was directing one of her poses in the grass with flowers and said, "This one is for your dad!" and started to cry. It all just made me think about how I'll be taking Anna's senior pictures soon and I'm going to have to steer away from saying that very same thing because I just don't know if I'd be able to finish taking her pictures. Thinking about my own baby girl with her daddy and how all these kids, including Cadey of course, were just babies yesterday just really got to me. In fact, it's making me all emotional now as I write this. Sometimes there are moments during a session or when I get your pictures back from the lab and all I see is how you probably looked when you were a toddler! I know you're all grown but, as a mama myself, it can be hard to believe that your childhood is really coming to a close.
I was so thankful for Brea, Cadey's sister, because she took a bunch of awesome behind-the-scenes pictures and videos at the session and I love when clients bring a sister or friend with them! It just adds to the memory-making process and makes your session extra special to have them there with you.
Both Brea and Cadey wore dresses out of their mom's closet for their sessions and Callie is definitely the one who has passed down the style gene to her girls! I love that lady! She is an incredible mama and has raised some awesome kids; I'm sad that this is the last time I'll do senior pictures for them...unless they ask me to do some for college which would be so fun!
Smith Family, thank you so much for letting me take these for you and for asking me to be such an important part of Cadey's senior year!
